Anders Eljas Conductor/arranger/composer/musician Anders Eljas was educated at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where he studied piano and violin. He started his career by touring with ABBA on all their world tours Australia and Europe in 1977, USA, Canada and Europe in 1979 and Japan in 1980. In the beginning of the 80s Anders Eljas orchestrated the music for the musical “CHESS” (by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Tim Rice) and he conducted the London Symphony Orchestra at the gramophone recording and during their tour in Europe in 1984 as well. In 1987 he wrote the music for the screen version of “Mio min Mio” by Astrid Lindgren in collaboration with Benny Andersson. During the 90s Anders Eljas was the conductor and musical director of several musicals and shows in Sweden and in 1995 he made the orchestrations for the musical “Kristina från Duvemåla” (by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus). He was also the musical director of the stagings of “Kristina från Duvemåla” in Malmö, Gothenburg and Stockholm. In the spring of 2002 “CHESS in Swedish” had it’s première in Stockholm and also this time Anders Eljas was the conductor and the musical director during the three seasons that the musical was played. Anders Eljas has more and more devoted himself to conducting and he has appeared with almost every prominent symphony orchestra in Scandinavia. Several of the productions have been broadcasted on TV - Nordisk Jul (Finland), DR's Store Juleshow and Royal 'n' Rock i parken (Denmark) and Rakt upp och ner with Tommy Körberg (Sweden) a.o. In 2009 Anders Eljas was musical director for Mamma Mia! in Oslo and in 2010 he orchestrated Benny Andersson's piece "Vilar glad. I din famn" witch was performed at the Swedish Royal Wedding in Storkyrkan on June 19th. |
